The vision of SAPI is to strengthen Ayurveda as a mainstream healthcare system by promoting scientific, rational, and evidence-based approaches while preserving its classical wisdom. Our society actively works to encourage academic excellence by organizing conferences, seminars, symposia, CMEs, and technical lectures across the country. These platforms provide opportunities for meaningful exchange of ideas, innovation, and professional growth among Ayurvedic physicians.

SAPI also emphasizes recognition of merit and dedication by conferring awards, prizes, and certifications in various specialties of Ayurveda. Through publications such as journals, books, and conference proceedings, we aim to disseminate authentic research, scholarly reviews, and classical commentaries for the benefit of practitioners, teachers, and students alike. Another important objective of SAPI is to cooperate with government and non-government organizations in national health programs and public health campaigns. We strive to provide expert guidance in policy planning related to Ayurveda education, research, and healthcare delivery, thereby contributing to national health goals.

As President of SAPI, I firmly believe that collective effort, unity, and adherence to ethical values will enable Ayurveda to achieve its rightful global recognition. Let us work together with commitment and vision to uphold the dignity of our profession and serve humanity through Ayurveda.

About Us

Association of Ayurvedic physicians of India (AAPI) is formed to encourage the advancement of the study, education, research and knowledge of Ayurveda i.e. the Indian system of medicine, and to promote/ popularize the practice of Ayurvedic therapeutic modalities at all levels; also to represent as the mainstream organization for the practitioners of Ayurveda.

AAPI has started its activities with a modest beginning with 50 Founder Life Members. More and more Ayurvedic doctors are invited to become a member of this new Association. You can know more about AAPI through its web site www.sapi.org.in and can also download AAPI membership form. AAPI is publishing its Quarterly Journal under the title “Annals of Ayurvedic Medicine (AAM)” which is indexed with DOAJ and UGC CARE. It has launched an online brainstorming dialogue among the Ayurvedic fraternity to identify the strengths and weaknesses of Ayurveda, besides challenges and opportunities  before it. The Association is organizing frequent group and mass meetings of Ayurvedic practitioners in Ayurvedic institutions and with the public to create awareness about Ayurveda. It also attempts to uplift the image of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic doctors, besides trying to motivate its members to improve their style of functioning and work culture. AAPI plans to approach Governmental agencies and policy makers to accelerate the process of meaningful mainstreaming of Ayurveda and to provide it and its member’s rightful place, besides attempts to sustain the upsurge of interest in Ayurveda out side India for its timely globalization in right perspective.

It is estimated that there are nearly 450000 registered practitioners of Ayurveda in India and there are about 250 Ayurvedic colleges / Institutes with approximately 12000 UG and 1200 PG Annual Admission seats. There are over 8000 licensed pharmacies manufacturing classical and branded Ayurvedic medicines with a reflected domestic annual turnover of Rs.10, 000 crores and an export of over 1000 crores.  In spite of this huge infrastructure the whole sector continues to remain sick and unorganized and is still out of the main stream of the health care delivery system of this country in contrast to our neighbor country China where the traditional Chinese medicine is well placed as mainstream Medicare. All this warrant a concerted effort at all levels to raise the status of Ayurveda and its main streaming. Ever since the department of AYUSH has been established in the Govt. of India some efforts are being made at Governmental level but there is a lot of things which need to be done at non Governmental levels and by professional organizations so that a right image may be projected and a true public awareness may be created.

There have been several Associations and Organizations active quite for some time in this sector. Ayurveda Mahasammelan and National Integrated Medical Association are the two major professional organizations at all India level representing two different ideologies and are associated with two different kinds of Ayurvedic practitioners.

Both these Associations have done commendable service to the cause of Ayurveda and Ayurvedic practitioners within their own vision. NIMA is an organization of integrated practitioners which works for the right of its members to practice Modern Medicine without caring much about Ayurveda while Ayurveda Mahasammelan patronizes Ayurvedic practitioners who believe in core practice of Ayurveda and are reluctant to adopt progressive outlook. Hence majority of institutionally trained PG degree / doctorate holding Ayurvedic doctors and many other general Ayurvedic practitioners who are interested in rational practice of Ayurveda and now form the mainstream of Ayurveda do not fit in any of the above mentioned two organizations. The like minded mainstream practitioners of Ayurveda who feel that Ayurveda should adopt a rational progressive outlook with scientific temper and should gradually transform itself into a strong evidence based holistic science of health care and medicine, have joined hands to launch an Association of Ayurvedic Physicians of India at national level. This Association is now registered wide Reg. no. 437 / 2008-09 dated June 17, 2008 and it was formally inaugurated in Varanasi on Nov.14.2008 with the Prof R. H. Singh as its first and founder President.

Ayurveda and its Quantum logic

Ayurveda (Ayu=life+veda=science) is the most ancient science of life, health and cure. It makes a unique holistic approach to the life and its wellbeing. Ayu, the life as considered in Ayurveda is a four dimensional entity comprising of the physical body, the senses, the psyche and the Soul (the consciousness). Ayu, the individual life entity is considered the miniature replica (and a continuum) of the universe. This understanding is the basis of the doctrine of Loka-purusha samya i.e. macrocosm-microcosm continuum. Ayurveda in tune with the basic vedantic view considers Chetana or consciousness as the primordial nonphysical cosmic power responsible for creation of the entire material and nonmaterial universe. In philosophical terms this cosmic power is called Brahman. The Brahman extends itself into each individual living being. This extended fractional consciousness is called Atman. Thus the Atman and Brahman are a continuum but this continuum ordinarily remains masked due to ignorance or Maya which can be unveiled by Sadhana. Such a unified field of consciousness as conceived in Vedic traditions simulates the contemporary theory of unified field of energy and quantum phenomenon in modern physics.

Based on the above cited fundamental vedic understanding Ayurveda projects its own holistic biology which forms the basis of practice of health science and medicine in Ayurveda. This is why Ayurveda apparently appears interwoven with philosophy and spirituality. But with the newer discoveries of modern physics such as the theory of quantum physics and unified field of energy, it becomes obvious that Ayurveda could be understood better in terms of higher physics and philosophy rather than in terms of developing / ever changing science of biology of today. The recent information’s emerging from quantum physics and unified field of energy greatly validate the Vedic wisdom on the existence of the universe and the life.
